in the life sciences. Students work together with faculty in conducting field and
laboratory research using state-of-the-art instruments. Their findings are often published
in leading scientific publications. Specialties within the department include bioinformatics,
ichthyology, mammalogy, ornithology, pre-medical, and science education.
UAFS undergraduates have many opportunities to present their research at state, regional, and national levels in a variety of focus areas such as food and safety microbiology, animal behavior, environmental hazards, and habitat disturbance.
