Dr. Bailey received his Ph.D. in Art History with a major focus on American Art from Washington University in St. Louis in 2014. He was the recipient of several fellowships during his graduate career, including a fellowship from the Winterthur Museum & Gardens in Winterthur, Delaware, the Henry Luce/American Council of Learned Societies Dissertation Fellowship in American Art, and a Tyson Fellowship at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas. He also worked for or collaborated on projects with several museums, including an internship at the Smithsonian Museum of American Art as an undergraduate as well as performing public talks and completing a number of writing projects for the collection and exhibits at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in Saint Louis. He has been an instructor for several institutions since 2008, having served as a visiting professor at UAFS in 2019 before beginning his current position as Gallery Director.
