If you want a career that will expose you to emerging technologies, let you use your hands, and prepare you for high-paying jobs or further education, the Associate of Science in mechanical engineering may be the place to start.

If you opt for an associate degree in mechanical engineering, you will spend your first two years on campus completing general education requirements along with first- and second-year engineering classes. After that you will be eligible to receive an associate degree. If you wish to continue, you can earn a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Arkansas while completing all your coursework on the UAFS campus.

Students who complete an associate degree in engineering will have the ability to:

Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying the principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments with consideration for the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

Thanks to a unique partnership between UAFS and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, students who complete an Associate of Science in engineering at UAFS can continue on to complete a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from UA, taking all their classes, taught by UA faculty, on the UAFS campus.

Before beginning the bachelor's degree program, students must be admitted to UA-Fayetteville.
